To promote Scilab in Japan, a Scilab Toolbox Contest is organized for Japanese and no Japanese students living in Japan. This event is organized by the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control (INRIA) and the Japanese National Institute of Informatics (NII).

The 2005 International Workshop on SCILAB and Open Source Software Engineering, S-OSSE´05, will be held on Oct.27-29, 2005, in the famous scenic resort, East Lake Hotel, Wuhan, P.R.China. Prospective authors are invited to submit papers reporting original and previously unpublished work.

The European Mechatronics Meetings are annual events dedicated to industrial practices and applications of mechatronics. Scilab team takes part in the EMM 2005 by introducing "Open source software for modelling and simulation of mechatronics systems".

The third edition of the Chinese Scilab Contest Awards took place in XiaMen, China, on October 19th. It has been followed by a Scilab workshop. See some photos.

The second edition of the Chinese Scilab Contest Awards took place in Xi'An, China, on December 1st. It was followed by a Scilab workshop.
