Students here in the US can spend a lot on student versions of other software with very restrictive licensing. Even simple academic research is difficult under licenses that restrict freedom of usage. SciLab ties together a good interpreter along with a good interface, consistent on both Linux and Windows. The interpreter speed is excellent. And the binaries couldn't be easier to download and install. Bon travail!
Yann COLLETTE France Private/Personal	posted: November 01 2006 01:31 PM I started to use scilab with version 2.7. This version was really difficult to use. Now, with version 4.0, I work on scilab daily. The Scipad editor is really nice to use. Scipad: a "must have" !
