Q1. What does the Scilab license mean?           top

Note: this answer gives you a short general explanation in common language of the meaning of Scilab license but keep in mind that only the license is legal.


Q2. What are the requirements to use Scilab for internal use?           top

There is no requirements for the use of Scilab for internal use and Scilab license makes no distinction between public scientific and research area and industrial environment.


Q3. Does the Scilab license prohibit commercial use?           top

No, the Scilab license does not prohibit commercial use as long as you do not modify Scilab software or include it in another software.


Q4. How to cite Scilab properly?           top

You are allowed to cite Scilab software, for example in a scientific paper or a Website, by specifying the appropriate copyright and/or the link below:


Q5. Is it possible to include the Scilab software in CD's accompanying books?           top

Yes, it is. You can reproduce and distribute Scilab software on any support as long as you do not modify Scilab software.


Q6. Is Scilab license GPL-compatible?           top

According to the Free Software Foundation, Scilab is not a free software.
