I have been working with Scilab for 3 years. I
developed two program complexes for potential field
modeling and interpretation using Scilab as an
convenient invironment. The only obstacle for
wide spreading of Scilab within local geophysical
community is absent of national character suport.

I have downloaded the Scilab version for the Mac,
because the Macintosh is no longer supported by MATLAB.
I hope Scilab will be further developed for the Macintosh.
And it is good that it is free, because
e.g. IDL or Mathematica they have such a agressive
price policy; especially in Europe (and escpecially
student prices).
I installed Scilab on a Performa 5300 (100MHz RISC),
and it works without problems.I hope I can use it
for my degree in astrophysics.
