Very nice tool! I use Scilab + PVM + native code for research in computational neuroscience. However, more important are the drawbacks and suggestions: - The support for building *nice* eps-figures for publications is POOR (style of the 80th). - Is it so complicated (?) to build a COMPILER: Scilab -> Fortran -> very fast native code The compiler only needs to implement the raw numerics, so that the pure computations can be performed even faster!

A masterful scientific and engineering tool. The textbook (Gomez et al) is definitely helpful. I use the program for geophysical modelling, especially the signal processing toolbox. One question - how does one implement the iir filters for sample intervals not equal to 1.0 ?
