Summary :
Scilab driver (Windows and Linux) for ADwin Real-Time and Data-Acquisition (DAQ)
systems

Description :
This toolbox provides driver functions for the communication between a Scilab PC
and the ADwin system, i.e.:

- Upload and download of measurement data
- Bi-directional exchange of variables, data arrays and data structures
- FIFO data exchange
- System booting and process downloads
- Starting and stopping of deterministic Real-Time processes
- Monitoring and control of ADwin system variables and resources
- others

This toolbox requires drivers from the ADwin-CD version 4.20.xx or higher.

ADwin are Data-Acquisition (DAQ) and Real-Time systems, used for applications
where a deterministic timing is required. The systems have their own Real-Time
CPU, are free user-programmable and allow many different Real-Time functions
and applications to run with a precise and deterministic Real-Time performance
:

- Intelligent data acquisition
- Complex trigger applications
- On-line analysis of measurement data
- Data acquisition with data reduction
- Open-loop control functions
- Closed-loop control functions
- PID controller, adaptive control functions, etc.
- Signal/Waveform generation
- Adaptive waveform generation
- Multi channel waveform generation
- Applications from kHz ... to MHz range
- Laboratory, test stands, production lines, and mobile applications

ADwin systems are characterized by a deterministic execution of intelligent
data acquisition and control applications. This is achieved by a local CPU, the
Real-Time heart of every ADwin system. The CPU is
responsible for all Real-Time functions and guarantees the deterministic
process execution, independent of the PC and its workload.

ADwin systems work in close cooperation with the PC, but there is a clear job
sharing; the job of the ADwin system is to execute fast and deterministic
processes in Real-Time, while the PC performs standard functions such as
displaying graphical user interfaces for applications, visualization of data,
and data base accesses.

ADwin systems add Real-Time capability to a PC; if the PC crashes, the ADwin
system will continue to run, maintaining the integrity of the application.

In addition to the CPU, there is a large local memory for program code and
measurement data, analog I/Os, digital I/Os, counters, encoder interfaces, CAN,
FlexRay, LIN, different interfaces, expansions and options. The communication
between the ADwin system and the PC is done via Ethernet or USB.

One of the key benefits in the ADwin <> Scilab-PC communication is, that it is
possible to run fast deterministic Data-Acquisition or Real-Time processes AND
to communicate data and parameters between the Scilab-PC and the ADwin system
at the same time. Both can run at the same time; the communication does not
disturb the deterministic timing of the Real-Time processes, but it is always
possible to exchange any information and measurement data.

This toolbox provides functions for the ADwin <> Scilab-PC communication.

This toolbox requires drivers from the ADwin-CD version 4.20.xx or higher.
