Summary :
Few functions for reading and writing images (Feb 2000)

Description :
December 1999

Reading, writing and visualizing ppm pgm pbm images
in Scilab (ver. 2.5 or higher)
-----------------------------------------------------

Images can be read and coded as matrices in Scilab. For that,
the image file must be in PBM PPM PGM format. Using the program xv or
some other else, it is possible to convert most other formats (gif,
jpeg, xpm, ...) into PBM format. Images in PBM format have .pbm
extension if they are black and white. They have .pgm extension if
they have grey levels and have extension .ppm if they are in color.

HI
I am unable to run my Image toolbox under neither Scilab 0.4(binaryà nor
previous versions, Could you send me any clue to fix it up, thank you dearly.

This is a simple but effective toolbox. Under WinXP Pro and Scilab 4.0rc1 it
works fine. I use IRFANVIEW to convert my images to PGM format. Now I can
finally do my own image analysis in Scilab (edge detection, FFT, etc).

Matlab already has this stuff built-in; it is nice to see Scilab users
contributing their code. I'll never use Matlab again (too pricey and too
bloated).

In Matlab, we have a library function called gaborfilter.
Does anything similar for scilab exist?
