Upgrading kernels in Debian is as trivial (generally) as installing a
new Debian package. For example, if you've installed Debian
kernel-image-2.6.7-1-686-smp then upgrading to a new kernel simply
means:
Assuming you are using grub as you boot loader and you have modified
the grub configuration file as described in Section , next
reboot will use the new kernel (and give you the choice of booting the
previous kernel, just in case).
