A clean install of Debian GNU/Linux is most likely to find your CD-R, CD-RW DVD drives without the need for you to do anything. If not, then see Section 14.1.
The simplest way to burn a CD is with the Naultilus CD Creator described in Section 61.3. It is a basic burner to just do the job without any fuss. An excellent alternative which provides more control is the k3b KDE burner which provides a very easy to use intuitive interface to access your burner and build disk images to burn. Another respectable, but more complex, alternative is xcdroast.
An excellent and easy to use command line alternative is burn.
